Ministry of Finance increases import duty applicable to several imported chemicals

On August 30, 2013, Minister of Finance issued Circular No. 125/2013/TT-BTC amending preferential import duty applicable to some products under Headings 2836.30.00, 2916.31.00, 3302.10.90, 3824.90.70 in Preferential import tariff.

Particularly, from October 14, 2013, the new import duty applicable to chemicals including sodium hydrogencarbonat (sodium bicarbonate) in carbonat subgroup; peroxocarbonat (percarbonat); commercial ammonia carbonat containing ammonium carbonate; Acid benzoic, un-saturated salts and esters in sub-group of un-saturated monocarboxylic acid, cyclic monocarboxylic acid, anhydrides, halogen, peroxide and peroxyacid; halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives is 5% in lieu of 0% as previously regulated.

Similarly, for other chemicals products used for foods processing under the Heading “prepared binders for foundry moulds or cores; chemical products and preparations of the chemical or allied industries (including those consisting of mixtures of natural products), not elsewhere specified or included” import duty at 6% is imposed; Mixtures of odoriferous substances and mixtures (including alcoholic solutions) with a basis of one or more of these substances, of a kind used as raw materials in industry; other preparations based on odoriferous substances, of a kind used for the manufacture of beverages, imposed import duty is 8%. Previously, both kinds of these chemicals enjoyed import duty of 5%.

Circular comes into force from October 14th, 2013
